After twenty years spent in Italian South Tyrol, I came back to my native Štramberk — and brought to Bistro Bašta 20 what cannot be learned from a recipe: calm Italian hospitality, a feel for good ingredients and joy in simple things done well.

At Bistro Bašta 20 you'll find specialty coffee made the Italian way, wines from Italy and southern Austria, cheese and cured meats from small Italian farms, and home-made desserts from a small bakery. And the strudel? My mother bakes it — because some things are best when they stay in the family.
